Duwisib Castle
July 2008 10 |
In the bushland near the Namib, about 100 years ago, a rich and pompous Prussian officer had a kind of castle built for himself and his family. This looks pretty out of place in the African landscape. It is now a tourist attraction. The farm still exists and farming is still being done nearby but the castle is now a kind of heritage site.
In the park around the castle, there were a lot of lemon trees but most of them were suffering from a kind of disease. You also saw dead lemon trees nearby.
