Berlin 2009

When it comes to booth duty at industrial exhibitions, I tend to be lucky. After representing my company at the 2007 Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, my next booth duty was at Technology@work 2009 in Berlin, which gave me an excellent opportunity to spend some time in our beautiful capital.
My first two visits to Berlin were as a student, when it was still fenced and walled in; later I had been back once for a trade show and once for a business meeting only. For this visit, my plan was to focus on those areas I hadn't visited before, mostly in the Eastern part of the city. Therefore you will not find some of the most prominent sights in this gallery, like the Brandenburg gate or the victory pillar.
Due to its history and location, Berlin is currently an economic backwater and therefore dominated by unproductive people - civil officers and artists. This gives the city a pleasantly relaxed atmosphere; also, for a European metropolis, life is surprisingly low-cost.
