Parque Nacional de Doñana is a large protected wetland area in the delta of the Guadalquivir river, at the Atlantic coast of Andalucia (near the border with Portugal). This national park is home to species like the Iberian lynx or the Spanish imperial eagle, but you can also see less rare animals, like pink flamingos. El Rocío in Huelva province provides a convenient access to the park. For most of the year, El Rocío is a sleepy little town with unpaved roads and a few hotels and restaurants, but for one week each year it hosts a very popular procession which attracts visitors from all over Spain.

We had a very good tour by an official park ranger; they do daily group tours but our group on that day happened to be two people only. Hotels and other vendors also try to sell tours with freelance tour operators. Those are usually smaller groups, and therefore more expensive, but we were lucky. Our tour guide was a scientist from the park, more knowledgeable than any professional guide.
